Greenwich Toy & Leisure Library

About Us

Greenwich Toy & Leisure Library Association is one of the leading toy libraries for children with special needs (and their families/carers) in the UK. Established in 1973 the organisation has the following aims and objectives:-

  • The provision of therapeutic, educational and stimulating toys and equipment
  • Promoting play and recreation as a means to the development of disabled children and young people
  • Encouraging the development of self-advocacy skills amongst disabled children and young people and their parents/carers
  • Educating parents and carers in the skills and knowledge they need to support and develop their children
  • Educating the general public in matters relating to disability and the development needs of children and young people with disabilities

Each year we work with over 250 families of children with special needs in Greenwich by delivering a wide ranging number of services including access to a toy library of 7,000 items, home visiting support to parents and carers, holidays and outings, access to a sensory studio, help to small local groups in establishing and running their own toy libraries, and much, much more.

“Greenwich Toy Library Association…is probably one of the most extensive toy library schemes anywhere in the country and certainly a model for others, sensitively and comprehensively supporting children and parents, across the widest possible spectrum of individual and community needs.”
